With expert insight, it will be fascinating to find out just what the ‘new normal’ will look like, the role technology will play and how industry players and consumers will adapt.”

ATM 2021 will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, spread across nine halls. Consistent with the existing density restrictions and social distancing guidelines and regulations, there will be 11,000 people in the halls at any given time. The theme of this year’s show is ‘A new dawn for travel and tourism’ and the spotlight will be focused on the very latest ‘COVID’ news from around the world – vaccine rollouts, the current state of the industry and more importantly, what the future holds.

The event will once again play an integral role in Arabian Travel Week, a 10-day long festival of travel and tourism events taking place in Dubai and online.

Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world to visit with a wide range of precautionary measures in place to ensure the safety of tourists at every stage and touchpoint of their travel journey, from arrival to departure. It was also awarded a ‘Safe Travels’ stamp from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC). Over 11.1 million doses have already been administered in the UAE, which is also a major achievement.

ATM 2021’s strategic partners include Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) as Destination Partner, Emaar Hospitality Group as Official Hotel Partner, Emirates as Official Airline Partner and The Vision as Official Destination Management Partner.

If you think that travel e-brochures are just glorified PDF version of their physical counterpart, a new digital initiative by Tourism Malaysia might just change your mind about electronic publications.

The tourism agency has launched five new digital brochures that let travellers to the country interact virtually with a range of online tools and social media integration.

Dubbed the Interactive Digital Brochures, they are essentially a rebranding of Tourism Malaysia’s popular travel brochures.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to spur the tourism industry that has been battered by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Nancy said digitalisation would be key in spurring travellers’ interest in the country post pandemic, in line with the National Tourism Policy 2020-2030.

“The digital brochures breathe new life to our PDF brochures that could only be downloaded and printed previously.

“The new version of these brochures opens a wider dimension and allow users to interact virtually to obtain all the necessary information at the tip of their fingers,” she said during the launch in Kuala Lumpur.

In her speech, Nancy said the ministry is ramping up efforts to make Malaysia the preferred holiday destination in the region once borders reopen again.

For now, Nancy is urging Malaysians to take the opportunity to have safe family holidays in the country by following the standard operating procedures set to curb the Covid-19 outbreak.

She added that the new interactive brochure is a great tool to help families plan their holidays around the country.

For starters, Tourism Malaysia has digitalised five of its most popular brochures among tourists. They are the Malaysia Travel Guide, Kuala Lumpur the Dazzling Capital City, Langkawi the Jewel of Kedah, Islands and Beaches and Adventures with Nature.

Tourism Malaysia senior deputy director (Production) Junus Suhid, during his live presentation of the interactive brochures, revealed that content of the brochure can be shared easily across various social media platforms.

The digital brochures would also have multi-screen compatibility, meaning that its content would translate well across laptops, smartphones and even tablets.

The all -new digital version of the brochure incorporates various multimedia elements such as text, audio, graphics, animation as well as video for more effective information delivery.

For those looking to better navigate their surroundings, the microsite utilises Google Maps links. This function would allow users to better plan trips, choose suitable accommodation as well as locating nearby facilities such as gas stations, restaurants and hospitals.

According to Junus, more Tourism Malaysia brochures will be given the interactive digital treatment in the future.
