Travel Daily News – First ever virtual tourism exposition 2021 gets support from Tourism Malaysia, state tourism offices and local tourism industry players

Press Release

“This collaboration is in line with the Malaysian government’s intention to promote domestic tourism. It also created a virtual marketing platform for industry players directly involved in offering domestic packages and services.”

The Digital Travel Technology Association of Malaysia (DiTTAM) announced the first-ever online virtual exhibition, Virtual Tourism Expo 2021 (VTE2021), carrying the theme “Malaysia Has It All”, from 27 – 29 August 2021.

VTE 2021 is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Tourism Malaysia, State Tourism Offices, as well as the local industry players to promote domestic tourism.

This collaboration is in line with the Malaysian government’s intention to promote domestic tourism. It also created a virtual marketing platform for industry players directly involved in offering domestic packages and services.

VTE 2021 will be organised virtually at the DiTTAM Virtual Convention Center on 27 to 29 August 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The DiTTAM Virtual Convention Center is a virtual exhibition centre created exclusively by DiTTAM.

VTE 2021 will provide an exciting new experience for the expo visitors. They will engage in the three-dimension or 3-D virtual exhibition space that has been created to mirror a real exhibition. Previously, the virtual exhibition halls were mostly in two-dimension or 2-D.

The visitors will also have opportunities to interact virtually and live with the various exhibitors as well as buy online through the sophisticated 3-D digital technology provided by DiTTAM.

Tourism Malaysia together with the State Tourism Offices such as from Langkawi, Perak, Pahang, Penang, Selangor and Melaka have already confirmed their participation in VTE 2021. Besides them, VTE 2021 will also be participated by the Golf Clubs Association, Scuba Divers Association, Homestays, hotels, resorts and tourism agents who will be encamped virtually in VTE 2021 for three days. The honourable Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture is expected to officially launch VTE 2021.

DiTTAM has allocated more than 150 3-D technology exhibition booths in VTE 2021 that can be visited virtually at any time.

With the support from Tourism Malaysia, the State Tourism offices, hotels, resorts and the local tourism industry players, the VTE 2021 exhibition will contribute and support the domestic tourism growth. All these are part of DiTTAM’s effort to strengthen domestic tourism and the economy.

DiTTAM was established officially last April 2021. DiTTAM’s vision is to be the catalyst for the digital transformation to smart tourism and travel. Our main mission is to drive innovation by working with various tourism and technology stakeholders to bridge the digital divide and strengthen the tourism industry through digital technology.

The VTE 2021 exhibition is an example of DiTTAM’s effort. As an association based on tourism and travel technology, DiTTAM is always committed to supporting our Malaysian government’s call to promote tourism digitally.

In the current serious scenario of the COVID -19 pandemic where the number of positive cases and deaths are high, the choice to move to the online virtual platform is the intelligent and right choice to support the reduction of the virus infection because there is no physical contact.

This new normal is expected to assist to jolt the revival of the nation’s tourism industry that has been disrupted and hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The digital solution provided by DiTTAM will ignite a revolution that is in line with Industrial Revolution 4.0 and the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint. It will change the tourism business that is currently unable to face the current COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertain global economy changes.

The Malaysian tourism industry is expected to take full advantage of this new golden opportunity to change its current business operations model by adopting digital technology to be more effective.

With the recent announcement by the YAB Prime Minister that Malaysian citizens who have been vaccinated with a second dose will be given the flexibility to be involved with domestic tourism, all parties in the tourism industry should be ready to resume their operations again.

VTE 2021 is timely organized and much awaited by all parties because visitors will have the opportunity to buy the various tourism packages at a bargain.
